Added: Avatars!

One of the very few complaints I have about Squarespace is the lack of robust user profiles. While free platforms such as WordPress and vBulletin offer numerous methods for registered users of the hosted website to personalize their profiles and interact each other, Squarespace is very limited in this area.

This is when hacks come in handy.

I always thought that the “Comments” section of each post looked a bit drab, so I decided to add avatars:

Unfortunately, individual users will not be able to upload the avatars themselves…only I am able to do so.

So if you visit this site often, have an account, and want a custom avatar, shoot me an email at  j e n n y [a t] g e e k i n h e e l s . c o m  with your desired image and I will happy to do so for you!

    i’m an angry potato muahahahaha

  2. Yeah, it seems pretty no-frills for a place that wants to charge you money to use it.
And do you write about “boobs” a lot?

  3. Geek in Heels:

Haha I don’t write about “boobs” a lot, but I guess I have a couple of posts that make the cut. :-)

You’re completely right! Which is why one of our main initiatives for the last half of the year is to complete rewrite the user-profiles stuff, commenting, user-forums etc.

Thanks for the update, Davin! It’s great to know that Squarespace is paying attention to what its users are saying and requesting. And one thing I do love about Sqaurespace is that it’s continually improving…thanks for letting us know that the user profiles are on the list of what’s to come – I look forward to it!
