Harry Potter Grows Old

You know the last scene in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows? A glimpse into the happy future that Harry was able to provide for him and his friends?

Well, I guess they’ve started to film that scene because I’ve got pictures of what Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco will look like!

I personally cannot wait until the first part of Deathly Hallows is released in November. While the movies have never been as good as the books, they have most certainly gotten better with each installment. I feel that the last movie, in particular, deviated just enough from the book to keep the movie interesting while staying true to the spirit of the novel.

Harry Potter FTW! If only J.K. Rowling would create a spin-off series…

I can’t wait! I’m really hoping that these will be the best movies of the bunch!

They almost look too old though-like they were aged to 50, not 30ish.

The harry potter series really changed my life in a way, I think. I started reading them shortly after the second or third had come out and I really fell in love. I have always been a huge reader but something about the Harry Potter books pulled me in and kept me close. I found friends who I wouldn’t trade for the world in the HP Fandom (Mugglenet, Mugglespace, Roleplaying sites, Forums, etc) from all over the country and some even in other countries!

That being said, I was -livid- when the first movie came out. There were parts of the story I was so mad about being left (mind you I am only 20, so when the first movie came out I was actually 11 myself). I saw it in theaters and I can remember getting up from my seat pissy about them leaving out things like "peeves" the poltergeist. I do agree that they have gotten better as time went on but I still think they left out really important tidbits and I am curious how they’ll make up for some of it in the seventh book-movies.

BUT! I am super excited and squeel like a tiny fangirl over them none the less and you should have seen how I attacked my boyfriend the other day when I realized The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is opening in 8 days at Universal Studios in Orlando, Fl.

And the characters look great though I have to say Rupert and Draco look pretty old hahah, maybe the 7th books events aged them like kids age their parents.

  3. Love these pictures! How funny! I can’t wait for the movie to come out!

@Liesal — Now that you mention it, the actors do look like the makeup artist tried too hard to make them old!

@Courtney — I hated the first movie too. Hated it. And there are still tons of stuff that I think should have been included in the movies, but never made it to the script (or ended up on the cutting floor). However, I know that they did their best to squeeze these LOOOONG books into 2-2.5 hour movies. If they had included everything, I imagine the movies would have been a lot longer.

Have you seen any of the pictures for the children playing their kids for the epilogue? Adorable! I’m really excited about the last two movies as well. I figure since they are splitting it into two, they gotta do a better job of staying true to the books…right?! Gah, I hope so!

  6. Omg, I really need to invite you to the hubs’ boss’ Wiz Rock band gigs! (did you know there’s a whole music genre out there, dedicated to Harry Potter? so all they do is sing about Harry Potter stuff). They are so good but raunchy, so it’s funny! And all their fans dress up as Harry Potter characters!

  7. I LOVE the Harry Potter series. We own them all and sometimes I can convince Micah to do a marathon.

oh wow! i want a closer shot of hermione, can’t see her very well. i actually just started reading the books a few weeks ago. is it weird that i read the books with a british accent in my head? love all the “isn’t it” and “git” and “mental” and all that stuff! i’m on book 5 now. i would re-watch each movie after finishing a book. i have to say, the movies make so much more sense after you’ve read the books! i am so excited for the final movies to hit theaters! the trailer looked incredible.
