I recently came across photographs of a German book called Where Babies Come From. I can’t tell if it’s meant to be a children’s book or not…because the illustrations are enough to make even adults blush!
I only wish I knew German so I could understand what the book says.

wow the "inside" view and those baby comin out pages are awesome. maybe i’d show my kids but probably not till they were older? i guess that may defeat the purpose..

Um. Wow.
I am torn between laughing and pointing- and being mature and appreciate it for it’s near honesty.
I think every parent should just decide how to be honest with their child, by adjusting how they approach any sensitive topic dependent on the child’s level of maturity. I couldn’t show this book to a teenager without elliciting an "Are you KIDDING ME?" ;o)

I had a similar book myself when I was a child, so yes, I would give any future children a book like that when they are old enough. Probably not this one since I think the doctor and father looks creepy on page 20 and 21.
THIS IS CRAZY! I’m against showing my kids this book. only cuz I would be too embarrassed that my kid would know how mommy & daddy have sex …….. the visual is traumatizing, no? BARF… I’m disgusted that that’s where I came from .. shivers .. Am I being immature?

I am shocked by some of the comments here. There is absolutely nothing wrong or dirty about this book, the images or the text. I showed it to my 8 and 10 yo kids and told them it is the most natural and normal thing. AND has been just like that from the beginning of times. Lets stop being hypocrites. Sex is great, sex with love is much better.
I totally agree with Marz. Sex is natural. sex is normal. And people should know about it LONG before they’re ready to be doing it!
If nothing else, this book makes it abundantly clear how babies are made. I know of five girls from my high school years who got pregnant because they literally did not know EXACTLY how babies were made. Their mothers didn’t tell them and they didn’t go to sex ed classes (they aren’t compulsory in Australia) so they just didn’t know.
My mother gave my brother and I the ‘Where Did I Come From’ books and videos to watch. Frankly, the book above in all its Danish minimalism is less confusing!

I also agree with the posts above. As a German I can even understand the text and it's funny but okay, children language to explain what happens in the pictures. I'd rather give my kids this book when they ask where babies come from then telling them lies about it just because I'm embarrassed.
Most of my friends once got a similar book ("Peter, Ida und Minimum") to explain all the facts they wanted to know. And they all were responsable young people when it came to sex later on. So thumbs up for books like that.
I bought this book for my 5 year old and 3 year old when I was expecting my third child, it was in 1976. I read it to them and asked if they had any questions, the three year old wanted to know why there were love hearts on the car but that was all. They just accepted the rest as normal.
When my third child was born the same three your old had a tanty when he was introduced to his new sister… Gee that’s not fair, I wanted to see her come out… said he.
We have just found an old copy and have bought it for our grandchildren, it was the best book we ever gave our children and they are all wonderfully well rounded adults!
The original copy we owned was stolen by one of our children’s friends who was in his early teens, now that was a worry.
