As a life long californian I laughed my arse off at this. However- closing the AIRPORT?? They do realize that earthquakes don’t hang out for a few days like snow storms/hurricanes, right?

With that being said- I am glad everyone is safe :o )

Actually, aftershocks can happen for awhile after a quake. So they kind of do hang out for a bit.

aftershocks are not a guarantee. and are usually less severe than the original quake. and the more time goes by the less the chance of aftershocks are. i’d be more worried about the incoming hurricane than a few may be aftershocks.

but that just may be my cynic, california used-to-earthquakes perspective :)

Bahahahahahhaa. I love this. I’ve never been through an earthquake, so I can’t talk, but being in Wisconsin, I know what a snow day really looks like!

As someone who felt the earthquake today, this cracked me up. I had to share it on my facebook page. I work in a 20 story ofc bldg in CT and we are on the 10th fl. We took off because we had no idea what was going on! Super scary!

I told my hubby we would be made fun of by the rest of the nation, if not the world, for our reaction. But that’s what happens when your not used to such things.

Plus they only make fun of our snow days because they are jealous we get to be having fun while they are slipping on their way to school. I went to college in Utah where they don’t get snow days and it was no fun.

Haha, that’s spot on! Although you guys didn’t even have a decent sized quake and all of DC is shut down. Ah…those east coasters!

  • stacey August 24, 2011 at 12:09 am

    Touchè! :)

Although, as a Northern Californian, I have seen real snow days. And flood days!

I admit, as somebody who lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, I did have a chuckle. But a friend of mine pointed out the Big Deal is that buildings on the east coast may not be up to earthquake code so I gave y’all a pass!

I’ve lived in the SF Bay Are my whole life and have never experienced one of these “snow days” (always at the wrong place at the wrong time, I think). This had me cracking up, though, because I’ve heard about people going crazy over them. Funny.
