Finally, MTV!

I have been looking forward to this coming Tuesday (July 14) since the beginning of the year. What is so special about the 14th, you ask? One of my all-time favorite TV shows, MTV's The State, will finally be released on DVD! For those who are not familiar with the show, The State was an hour-long comedy sketch show that aired on MTV from 1993-1995. The cast consisted of 11 comedians who wrote, acted, directed, and edited the show. During a time when life consisted of pimples, oily bangs, and braces, The State was one of my favorite escapes - an hour where a shy, nerdy girl could seek solace from the harsh reality of teenage angst and partake in a culture that...

An Interrupted Nap and “The Lean”

Folks from my parents' generation can recall exactly where they were when they heard that JFK was assassinated. I thought that the equivalent in my generation was the tragic passing of Princess Diana, but now we have another. I was taking my afternoon nap (I've been sleeping so poorly at night that I've resorted to taking power naps throughout the day) when J burst through the door. The first words out of his mouth were, "Did you hear? Michael Jackson died." "No he didn't." "I'm serious. Look at your Twitter feed. Turn on the TV." I groggily flipped open my laptop and waited for Twhirl to load my latest Tweets as J flipped on the television. Rest in peace, King of Pop. There is no denying that...

Back with a Vengeance

I shall make no excuses. I have been a bad blogger, and that is that. I resolve to: Get back into my regular blogging rhythm   Go through my starred items in Gmail and inbox in Facebook and reply to all the messages that have been pouring in (I am so sorry!)   Finish going through my wedding photos (1 year and 2 months after the event) and continue my wedding-day recaps on Weddingbee   Re-design my banner   I shall conclude this apologetic post with these yummy photos from Tim Burton's upcoming movie, Alice in Wonderland. Released just yesterday, these images have already been feverishly circulated around the interweb. What can I say? Tim Burton is a freakin genius, providing nothing short of visual masterpieces with each film. Johnny Depp...

Governor Paterson on SNL

As a huge fan of Fox's House, I made sure to catch last night's SNL which was hosted by none other than Hugh Laurie, Dr. House himself. While Mr. Laurie's performance was pretty good, it was Fred Armisen and Amy Poehler who stole the show. Fred Armisen made his debut as New York's Governor Paterson, the "accidental governor" (due to the Spitzer scandal) who is legally blind. He nailed the part on the head - it was frickin hilarious! See for yourself: Last night also marked the last SNL of 2008 and thus the last episode for Amy Poehler. Her goodbye speech at the end of "Weekend Update" was short and bittersweet. Right as she was about to choke up, Governor Paterson made...

Snoop Dogg on Martha Stewart

Can you believe Snoop Dogg was on the Martha Stewart Show today? I couldn't. Then I watched the video. And laughed and laughed. Moments of particular note include: Martha reads aloud some emails he's sent her. He continually calls her "MS" and instructs her to "holla back boo" Snoop tries to explain "Snoop-guistics" to Martha Martha teaches Snoop how to make mashed potatoes and he addes cognac. After tasting the result, he says he wants some chicken wings. Watch the hilarity ensue as my favorite rapper from the 90s meets my girl Martha! I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Martha Stewart Blogger Show, now I'm wishing Snoop was there as the special guest!...
