How Donuts Help Us Understand Social Media

Ed. note: It has come to my attention that the content for the image below already exists. I had seen the Google+ one from a Google+ post, was immediately reminded of the "How Pee Helps Us Understand Social Media" graphic, and made this, further inspired by the comments on the Google+ thread. (I have not seen the Instagram version since I am an Android user and do not have an Instagram account.) Tweets and Stripes

To my fellow Americans, Happy Independence Day! As usual, the web is filled with Fourth of July celebrations and dedications. My favorite for this year is Code for America's Tweets and Stripes: The site aggregates twitter avatars from users who tweet about #July4 and beautifully mashes them up into a mosaic representation of the stars and stripes–again representing the diversity and unity of the original flag. The best part? The ever-changing mosaic is interactive in that when you mouseover an avatar, the user's tweet is nicely displayed, as such: Coincidentally, one of my first mouseovers displayed the above Star Wars-related tweet.  :mrgreen: I hope everyone reading this is having a great Fourth and that you're enjoying your holiday weekend! U.S. Cities According to Twitter

Did you know that 66% of Twitter users don't list an actual location on their profile? And while I assume that most seem to do this for privacy reasons, there is also the fun factor (such as "Justin Bieber's Heart"). InboxQ has sifted through various geotagged tweets in order to bring us a map of the United States if it were left up to the Twitterverse. Many of the city nicknames seem appropriate, but some have be scratching my head in confusion. I had to google "Whale's Vagina" to discover that it is a term coined by the movie Anchorman (because "San Diago" means exactly that). Do you reveal your actual location in Twitter?
