The iPad

Today, Apple announced its highly-anticipated tablet device. My first thought: are there any women on Apple’s marketing/branding team?

It was worth taking 5 minutes out of my busy day to put this together:

In all seriousness now… will you be buying an iPad? I personally think it’s superfluous; I am perfectly happy with my laptop and smartphone.

I shall now resume preparing J’s birthday dinner.

  1. The name is terrible, but I want to have a tablet PC mounted on my wall in the kitchen so that I can have a recipe right in front of me when I’m cooking. I’m a Mac girl, so I’m pretty psyched.

@Woman with a Whisk — That would be a good way to use it, for sure. My husband thinks that the iPad will soon take off in the medical field as well.

Worst name ever. Superfluous for me as well, but maybe one of the future versions!

Its a glorified iphone with a book reader? Looks cool, but i’m not digging the price tag or the fact it doesnt support flash! If im going to sit on my couch and surf the net, i wont be able to pass the time playing flash games? Seriously!? Thats a deal breaker for me…

Is the 64 gig WiFi+3G model the Maxi-ipad?
If so, has Steve Jobs invented crotch computing?

It’s a giant iPhone really, which I already have. Plus, I can’t give up a keyboard that easily and my H says Flash won’t work on this either (not sure if that’s true).

Haha to the illustration…my girlfriends and I were talking about them branching this out further into the iAlways or the iKotex haha!

At first, I didn’t see the point. I couldn’t think of a situation where I couldn’t use either my iPhone or Macbook.

Then, my husband put it perfectly: Think of any situation where you might use a clipboard where a phone or a laptop would not be easy to use. HELLO! I am a wedding planner – this would be DELICIOUS to have for me in many applications. Especially on the day of, in lieu of a paper checklist – I could take notes and check stuff off as the day progressed. Swoon.

I am now angry at my husband for making me want something I didn’t want to want! 😉

I think Apple really missed the mark on the IPAD. Why would you make such a great device and not put in a USB port. Imagine plugging in a web cam and being able to use Skype on the go. Or be able to direct upload pictures and video.

I have to agree with the majority of comments – that for the average user – the ipad will only be a more powerful version of the iphone. However the vast majority of iphone users don't push their iphone to even it's 1% capabilities. The ipad is for people who need something that can play video and the utlise the touch screen features.
