My All-Time Favorite Korean Drama

When I was a young girl, I used to watch Korean dramas with my halmeh (grandmother) before she passed away. I didn't pay too much attention to them because Korean dramas back then were serious, no-nonsense affairs — not too interesting to a young mind. I didn't really get into Korean dramas again until college, when Korean dramas entered its renaissance period. I still remember the drama that first got me hooked: 가을동화 (Autumn in My Heart). Does anyone else remember this drama? Oh, the tears I shed over their ill-fated love! How I Lost 35 Pounds This Year

I turned 40 years old at the height of COVID. Even after the lockdowns ended, a more sedentary lifestyle remained, and it was like my metabolism slowed down and kept slowing down after I hit that big 4-0. In four years, I gained an astonishing forty pounds.  I had become such a hermit in the past few years that I was able to keep the weight gain from most of the world. Between movies, TV shows, video games, and books, there exists quite a number of lightsabers in the Star Wars universe. Well, the good folks at PixlParade have done the legwork and created the ultimate guide to all the lightsabers in the Star Wars universe. Check it out below: The article at PxlParade includes some other facts about lightsabers after the infographic, such as how...

Korean CSAT English Questions

Every year in Korea, high school students hoping to attend college take the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), a day-long affair for which many students begin preparing since kindergarten. The CSAT is given just one day per year (which just happened to be yesterday), so this particular day is treated almost like a solemn holiday in Korea. Stores are closed, traffic slows down, and flights are even delayed to lessen the noise (lest it distract the test takers). Parents line up on the streets to cheer on their children taking the test: image source Why is the CSAT such a big deal? Well, it can not only determine what university a student will attend, but it is the gateway to future job prospects,...
