Crotch-Punching Cloudy

Last night J and I decided to dress Claire in her take-home outfit to see how it would fit her now, at 6 weeks old. (She was positively swimming in it when we brought her home from the hospital, as even premie clothes were too large on her for the first week of her life.) No surprises there — the shirt now fits her a bit too snugly. We kept the outfit on for her nightly picture with Cloudy. J even snapped a picture with his phone and immediately uploaded it to Facebook, only to receive the following question from a friend: "Is she crotch punching Cloudy?" We immediately took another look at the picture in question, and sure enough, there it was...

Meet Cloudy

When my younger sister posted the first picture of herself holding her niece Claire on Facebook, she captioned it: "In the words of Phil Dunphy: 'Claire? Isn't that gonna be hard for her to say?'" (If you don't get the joke, go watch the pilot episode of Modern Family. Hilarious! What a great show!) My sister's words had a ring of truth to them, because according to my mother, we couldn't have picked a worse name for Asians to enunciate — it has both an L and an R! — and NONE of the grandparents can pronounce it correctly. According to my parents, a dog will only bring added stress to our new life as parents. As a result, Comang has been staying at my parents' since Claire's birth and will stay there for at least another few weeks. My sister is back in NY for the year, so Comang has a friend — my sister's dog Dante — to keep him company. I know that he is probably happier there than in our cramped apartment with a new baby and J's parents visiting daily (they do not like dogs much)....

Guest Post: Geeky Halloween Costumes for Babies

I had considered dressing Claire in a fun geeky costume this year for Halloween (this Yoda costume comes to mind) but a newborn who can't even support her own head takes some of the fun out of the process. Luckily, Stephanie came to the rescue — last time, she enthralled us with geeky Halloween costumes and she returns today with geeky Halloween costumes for babies. The only problem that remains is which costume to choose! With a new geek coming into the world (plus at least 3 babies among my friends and family) I thought that a collection of sweet and/or awesome baby and toddler costumes would be fitting. Though you could take the Martha Stewart route and turn your baby into some sort...
