29 Weeks

(I need to really start making it a point to post these updates on time, as I am now almost 30 weeks.) As stated in a post yesterday, I'm starting to get really uncomfortable. My lower back constantly aches. My hands and feet swell so much at nighttime that I'm starting to have dexterity issues. I have trouble breathing with the baby pressed up against my lungs. My worst symptoms of the first trimester — nausea, painful gas, constipation, and insomnia — have all returned with a vengeance. And my hips hurt so much from the separating/loosening joints and ligaments that I consistently walk with a limp. (Can't exercise either, because of my damn hips.) Parents Who Invest in Their Children…Literally

Lately it has come to my attention that many parents see their children as a means of retirement. I am not talking about those near (or at) retirement age who have lost their retirement funds due to the bad economy. Rather, I am referring to those who "invest" in their children from the beginning so that the children can support them in their old age. From talking to my friends — especially those of Asian descent — I have found that this phenomenon is more common than I thought. Fathers and Daughters

Ever since I got pregnant I have been encouraging J to go out and spend more time with his friends. I figure that his days of partying will be cut back significantly once the baby arrives, so I like for him to enjoy his last "free" days and get it out of his system as much as possible. Although I admit that I occasionally get annoyed to find a loud, boisterous, and/or hungover husband, I am okay for the most part because I'm glad that he had a good time.
