Peanuts on Planes

Today I read that the DOT is considering a ban on in-flight peanuts. This made me very sad for two reasons: 1.) I can't remember the last time I was offered a package of peanuts on an airplane. And I used to love those suckers! Watch/listen to this hilarious clip from a stand-up show by Ellen Degeneres, circa-1992: If you don't have time for the full 6½-minutes clip, just listen to the first two minutes and you'll understand what I'm talking about. (And if you have the time, I highly recommend that you watch the entire thing — it's one of my favorite stand-up scenes of all time!) 2.) According to a quick web search, only 0.04-0.06% of the population suffer from severe peanut allergies....

Travel by Color is an online tool developed by travel site Explorra that lets you pick a color (or you can choose to go with a random selection) to discover a variety of destinations containing that hue. While I doubt that most users of the tool will actually use the service to choose their next vacation destination, it is nonetheless a fun way to explore the wide variety of colors offered by locales around the world. Pet Travel Kit

I am very lucky to have parents who love dogs and so do not mind watching Comang whenever J and I have to go away. (And I imagine this will also be the case when our baby girl is born.) Whenever we pack his stuff to go "stay at grandma and grandpa's," we usually stuff everything into a large shopping bag because we know everything will be dumped out upon arrival. Fallingwater Animation

I have always had a soft spot for architecture. I mean, who hasn't seriously considered becoming an architect after reading Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead? And as cliché as it sounds, Frank Lloyd Wright has always been my favorite architect and Fallingwater my favorite residential building. Visiting Fallingwater has been on my to-do list for over a decade. Unfortunately, the 6+ hour drive to western Pennsylvania is too daunting for this lazy geek. Perhaps we can make a weekend trip of it years down the road, with kids screaming in the back seat, "Are we there yet?!!" For now, I can almost feel like I'm there...
