MyFontbook: A Better Font Viewer

Remember how obsessive I am about my fonts? While I love my trusty “Fonts” document, it can be a PITA to constantly keep it updated.

Today I read about MyFontbook – a FREE font viewer that organizes all your fonts (all 700+ of them in my case) in an easy-to-use web interface.

What makes MyFontbook extra-useful are its additional features:

  • Tags & Favorites
  • Glyphs Viewer (!!!)
  • Font Metrics

as nice as it would be to organize and preview your fonts within a web browser, using a program like suitcase tends to have more purpose. for me, anyway. the latest version of suitcase allows you to preview your fonts within your designs without loading them, organize them by style, preference, or however you like. the auto-activation function is a life saver as well. along with being able to label and organize your fonts however youd like, you can also search for your fonts based on the metadata you give it.

so, my opinion is that “MyFontBook” is neat, but Extensis Suitecase Fusion is useful.
    my 2¢

Anon – thanks for the suggestion! However, being unemployed, I am on a very tight budget. One of the best things about MyFontbook is that it has many of the features that of other leading font managers…and it is free. I just looked up Extensis Suitcase Fusion and it looks like a great software; however, the almost-$100 pricetag is a deal-breaker when compared to MyFontbook.
