The Return to Facebook

I will let this status update speak for itself…

However, the main (and very selfish) reason for my re-activating my account is to easily share pictures and updates with family and close friends once the baby arrives.

I probably won’t update nearly as much, and will go through my friends list to set different privacy settings. Please let me know if I’ve accidentally deleted you as a friend, or if you’d like to be added as a friend. Thanks!

Is it totally lame if I totally want to be your facebook friend? I would love the opportunity to see pictures of your sweet baby girl once she arrives.

@Bird — I’ve been following this story since it first reared its ugly head a couple of days ago. Here is the latest on the issue: http://phandroid.com/2010/07/16/motorola-responds-to-efuse-and-bootloader-talk-doesnt-brick-but-still-just-as-useless/

This is precisely the reason Google decided to release the Nexus One — so that there actually exists an Android phone free of the manufacturer or provider’s "helpful" additions. Sadly, BECAUSE the Android platform advocates openness, there isn’t much that Google (or anyone for that matter) can do to stop things like this from happening, and I expect more "closed" devices using an open platform like Android (not only from Moto/Verizon but also from HTC, Samsung, etc) in the future.

Welcome back to facebook! I’ve taken the approach of limiting my use but not dropping off completely. I would love to be a facebook friend if you’re friending blog readers — I send a request with a note through your Interaction on the left.

I just read an article in New Scientist about why facebook friends are worth keeping. One part of it has to do with what you’ve mentioned: it’s easy! Not only are we sometimes lazy, but there’s only so much we can get our brains around.

I’ve taken most of my photos down off of facebook (perpetual and irrevocable ownership = nu-uh for this lady), but I’d love to be your friend again!

    can i be a "friend" =)

  8. Geek in Heels says:

@shortie — I think I’m still friends with you? (Unless you created a new profile?)

@Helene — Just sent you a friend request!

After I had my baby boy, FB kept me sane. I didn’t have much time on my hands dealing with a newborn, so FB was great for keeping in touch with the world in 5-10 minutes increments.
