Because I’m Sure I Can’t Be the Only One

There are some things I find weird about myself (sometimes, in conjunction with others in my life) but I know there must be others out there who do the same…right?

  1. I occasionally weigh myself before and after pooping just to see if there’s a difference. (It’s never as much as I expect or hope.)
  2. Every few months, J will lie on top of me and “play dead.” I then try my darndest to try to get out from under him, just to see if I would be able to escape if he were ever to die or pass out on top of me.
  3. During a bawling session, I have run to a mirror to see if I can cry pretty like actors do in movies or television. (I can’t.)
  4. This is exactly how I sleep in the warmer months:

…while the opposite is true in the cold (i.e., one leg out of the blanket).

  5. When I get really stressed out, I like to go through the clothes in my closet and look for wrinkled clothes to iron. I tell my friends that ironing relaxes me because it’s like I can smooth out the wrinkles in the fabric, while I can’t always smooth out the wrinkles in my life. But that’s not always the truth — because I’m not that deep a person. I just really like to iron.

Star Wars Business Cards

The past few days have been rough. Little Aerin fell ill for the very first time in her life — thank goodness she had gotten her flu shot last month! — and I ended up catching her cold too. We sent Claire away to her grandparents’ in hopes that she won’t get sick, and the household has been a disarray of used Kleenex, dirty laundry, and VapoRub.

But I remain in high spirits, because my beloved Knickerbockers are 5-0 for the first time in almost 2 decades. 🙂

Needless to say, inspiration has been running dry (inversely proportional to the level of snot and phlegm in my respiratory system), but I quickly wanted to pop in to share these Star Wars business cards from Etsy seller frommntoyou, who explains that her sister gave these to her when she was a kid.

90s Flashback [“Answer Me 1997”]

I have a new obsession. (And if you're friends with me on Facebook, you probably already know what I'm talking about.) It is a Korean drama called 응답하라 1997, or Answer Me 1997. As the title suggests, the show revolves around a group of friends who graduated high school in 1997. The story unfolds through a series of flashbacks as they attend their 15-year reunion — and with the majority of the 16-part series taking place during the last decade of the 20th century, you can't help but be taken back by the numerous 90s references. If you are a Korean in your early 30s, you are sure to love this drama as much as I do. You would also fall hard if you're...

Pandy’s Puddle

There's an episode of Ni Hao, Kai-Lan which revolves around Tolee's relationship with his stuffed panda bear, Pandy. In this episode, titled "Pandy's Puddle," Tolee the koala bear is utterly devastated when Pandy falls into a muddy puddle, and as a result must be separated from its owner to take a spin in the washing machine. This is the only episode of Ni Hao, Kai-Lan that Claire cannot watch. To further clarify, this is the only episode that is forbidden from being played at our house. Why, do you ask? It's because Claire relates so much to Tolee and his attachment to Pandy (see: Claire's Lovey) that she, too, gets upset when Tolee begins to miss his inanimate friend. I know that...
