My Scratch Map

My Scratch Map is a must-have for any avid traveler. Rather than using pushpins to mark the areas you've visited, the user scratches off the gold foil to reveal a colorful map underneath. While I would love to get my hands on one of these to hang proudly in my office, I would be too embarrassed at the lack of color on my map (only the continental U.S., South Korea, and a couple of countries in western Europe would be scratched off). Oh, and I can't forget the fact that I don't have an office to hang it in. Via Gizmodo. ...

Twitter Wall Decals

Yiying Lu, the designer behind the iconic “Fail Whale” graphic, has just released a beautiful new series of repositionable wall graphics produced by LTL Prints. I think these would make a wonderful geeky addition to a child's room — don't you agree? Unfortunately, they would clash horribly with the current decor of our home. Maybe next time. Be sure to check out the site, because there are plenty more adorable decals available for purchase! Via Laughing Squid. ...

‘365’ Knitting Clock

German designer Siren Elise Wilhelmsen has designed a clock that seeks to give a physical manifestation to the change of time through the growth of knitted material. So anal that if I see the end being dispensed from under the roll, I'll take it out and fix it so that the paper hangs over the roll. I do this even if I am at a public facility. Or even at another person's home. Call the bathroom etiquette cops now! However, I also know that there exists a group who insists that TP should be hung the other way. Now, there...

Finally Getting Started on the Nursery…

We purchased our first item for the nursery today: a crib! The Graco Lauren crib in espresso, to be exact. When I first started looking at cribs I was startled at just how expensive most of them were. Especially the minimalist ones with clean simple lines, which is our style. Our own bed didn't cost $1,000 and I certainly wasn't about to spend that much on a crib. The book Baby Bargains came to the rescue once again. As previously written, this is THE best pregnancy book I have (a big thanks to my little sister who bought it for me as a gift!) and has helped me make many money-friendly choices. Baby Bargains put the Graco Lauren as one of the best bargain cribs, and...
