Covry Glasses Review

I wear contact lenses most of the day, but I switch to glasses at night. For the past decade or so I’ve used vision insurance for my contacts (don’t you love how most vision plans only cover glasses or contacts?) and gotten my glasses from various online retailers, mostly Warby Parker.

I don’t think I ever realized that my glasses never fit correctly — I just assumed that the constant sliding off my face and touching my cheeks when I smile were how all glasses fit. Hence, I hardly ever wore glasses during the day because they were a PITA to wear.

I first heard about low bridge fit glasses a few years ago, but didn’t pay it much mind. I knew that Warby Parker carried them, but didn’t like the styles. But when it came time to get a new pair of glasses earlier this year, I came across Covry — a glasses company that specializes in low bridge fit glasses, called Elevated Fit. They had a home try-on program, so I figured why not and ordered 5 frames to try for myself.

Oh, my lord. So this is how glasses are supposed to fit. Yes, I know that most Asians have low nose bridges and after all, I’m an Asian. But never had I tried on glasses that fit this well.

An extra perk was that these frames were better quality than those from Warby Parker.

I immediately fell in love with one of the frames: the Vela Amber. So I placed my order.

I love Covry’s glasses, but I didn’t love their customer service.

Covry states on their website that orders with prescription lenses are processed within 3 weeks, so I waited. And waited.

Just before hitting the 3-week mark, I shot them an email inquiring about my order. They replied the next day, telling me that I need to send them my prescription. What? I had sent them my prescription right after placing my order.

So for 3 weeks, they had sat on an order for prescription glasses, apparently in need of my prescription but never contacting me about it. Who knows what happened to the original email I sent them with my prescription?

I re-sent my prescription, expressing my disappointment with what had happened. I never received a response.

A full day after re-sending my prescription and with no peep from them, I decided to try calling the physical Covry store. They were no help to me because apparently the online store is on a completely different system from the physical store. I decided to try social media, and DM’ed the Covry Instagram account.

Their social media manager got back to me the next day. They said the team had sent me an email telling me they needed my prescription. I told them, yes, I received that email and I had re-sent them my prescription — did they get it? And almost a full day later, they finally got back to me via Instagram that they did, in fact, receive my prescription and my glasses will be in the works.

They apologized for the inconvenience and told me that they will upgrade the shipping on my glasses to priority and will include a designer lens cloth of my choice. Again, this was all done via Instagram and not with their customer support team via email.

I received my glasses, with the free lens cloth, within a week.

think I can guess what happened, and it’s that my emails sent from my email address (using the geekinheels.com domain) sometimes gets sent to spam folders. Still, it was no excuse for them to wait 3 weeks on a pending order and for all communications to be done via Instagram DM.

Despite what happened, I am so, so happy with my glasses. They fit so well on my face and are high quality.

I love the case and the accessories included in the order too. Inside the case were a microfiber bag and a microfiber cleaning cloth. I didn’t need the designer lens cloth, after all.

I love my glasses so much that I’ve sometimes started to wear glasses during the day. If you’re curious about Covry’s Elevated Fit vs Warby Parker’s Low Bridge Fit, I found a Reddit post that gives details, with pictures. Given what the poster says, I’m glad I went with Covry vs. Warby Parker.

I know that JINS is another company that offers low bridge fit glasses. But they don’t have a home try-on program and virtual try-ons never worked well for me.

Given what happened with the ordering process, would I order from Covry again? I think I would, because I love their glasses so much. But next time, I would use my Gmail address.
