Flirting Your Way Out of a Ticket

Earlier this week I was pulled over for speeding. I confess I was in the fault by driving well over the posted speed limit; however, in my defense I was dead tired from working on my feet all day and the 1-hr drive back home seemed to stretch forever.

I knew that having this incident on my driving record would cause my insurance rates to shoot through the roof. There was also the $200+ fine I would be required to pay…

…so I decided to go for it…

…again.

Yes, I flirted my way out of a speeding ticket, and this was not my first time.

A scene from “Friends” where Rachel successfully flirts her way out of a ticket while Ross disapprovingly rolls his eyes

I have probably talked/flirted my way out of tickets about 5 times over the 13+ years of my driving career. This isn’t to say that I have never been issued a ticket: the very first time I got pulled over for speeding, I was too scared to say anything to the officer and subsequently received a ticket.

I have not been pulled over in years and years, so I was a bit scared to say the least. However, the words rolled naturally off my tongue and the officer hardly even glanced at my driver’s license! He wished me a nice night and let me go without even a warning.

When I recalled the incident to J, he, like Ross in Friends, rolled his eyes.

“Oh, COME ON! That is SO unfair…”

“Well, would you rather your wife flirt her way out of a ticket or pay the fine?”

“I know, but still. You know guys could never do that.”

I admit he has a point there.

Have you ever talked your way out of a ticket?

Do you disapprove of women flirting their ways out of receiving tickets?

I just got out of a ticket yesterday. I didn’t flirt, per say, but I smiled, called him sir, readily admitted that I was going to fast and that I should’ve been paying more attention. It worked! Full disclosure has always worked in the past, and it didn’t fail me. Probably helped that the cop went to school with someone I’m related too.

  3. I’ve done it many times. I am not ashamed. I’m looking out for number 1. πŸ™‚ I think the best one I got was I was going 30 mph over the posted speed in a construction zone, out of state in a rental car. (No workers were present and i was the only car on the road). I got it taken down to nothing due to the fact that *giggle* I"m so sorry officer, *giggle* I uh *blush* really need to use a bathroom *giggle*. πŸ™‚

haha! That is awesome. I say, if it saves you the money and the mark on your driving record, it’s fair game πŸ™‚

I have only been pulled over once, on a long 8 hour drive alone. I was so flustered (did not cry – just was freaking out internally and trying to calm myself down and subsequently made a mess digging through my glove compartment for my registration), that I think the cop felt bad and let me off with a warning. Maybe if it happens again I will try the flirting method πŸ˜‰

I was really hoping this was going to be a "how-to" type of post. You know, just in case… πŸ™‚

I get pulled over a lot due to car profiling (little red hatchback with tinted windows) so I think the officers are so surprised to see a middle aged mom behind the wheel they don’t give me a ticket. I don’t even have to flirt. The last time I got pulled over I had actually cut off the cop at a yield (it was early in the am, and I am NOT a morning person), and he immediately pulled me over, but no ticket. I didn’t flirt at all, I swear!

I pulled the … But officer, I’m soooo lost and I don’t know where the I – 495E is >.<;;;; he totally fell for it and said .. o sweety.. don’t worry, you’re not lost… it’s right there .. and let me go!
