New Priorities

Originally, J and I had planned on using the bassinet that comes equipped with this Pack 'n Play for the first couple of months of the baby's life; we would have the baby sleep there beside our bed for easier night feedings and as an extra precaution against SIDS. However, upon further examination of our limited space, we decided to get a freestanding bassinet instead and decided to forgo the Pack 'n Play. Yesterday we made a trip to BuyBuyBaby (Did you know that you can use Bed Bath & Beyond's 20% off coupons there? Score!) and picked up the Carters® Classic Comfort Wood Bassinet. The Baby Name Map [Google Maps]

Check out the Baby Name Map to find out which names are most popular in your state (or country), all conveniently laid out on a Google Map. What's interesting is that many of the most popular names seem to have no state or country boundaries, which wouldn't have been the case just 50 years ago with limited media and mass communication channels. I think that J, whose primary requirement in choosing baby names was not to know anyone in real life with that name, would be happy to find out that the name we chose for our girl does not seem to be very popular at the moment. Registry Judging [Rant]

This is a yet another post on mommy wars, specifically topic #4276: registries. With our baby shower less than a month away, J and I have been putting the finishing touches on our registries. In my studies of review sites and message boards for advice, I have come across many women who seem to have problems with others' baby registries. Really?
