Product Review: Jonathan Serious Volume Shampoo & Conditioner

Ever since I watched the first two seasons of Bravo’s Blow-Out, I’ve wanted to try the Jonathan line of hair products. A couple of months ago, I picked up a sample jar of Jonathan’s Dirt at my local Sephora. It was the most popular product in Jonathan’s product line and I was tempted to try my hand at the “day-after” look. I really liked it. The smell was pleasant but not overpowering, and it really allowed more control and better styling without weighing down my hair. I liked it so much that when my shampoo & conditioner ran out, I decided to turn to the Jonathan line again. I quickly decided upon the Serious Volume shampoo and conditioner because my hair tends to go...

Comfortable Heels

Although I rarely venture out without heels, I'm ironically not that into shoes. I am much more of a bag hag than a shoe whore, and until recently never spent more than $100 on a pair of shoes. My mother stepped in to set me straight. "Shoes are so important to your health! If your feet are not comfortable, your entire body suffers." She advised me to invest in a few high-quality shoes. As they say, mother knows best. In 2006 Cole Haan collaborated with its parent company, Nike, to bring the Nike Air Technology to a special lines of its shoes. My Short-Lived Stint as a ChaCha Guide

Have you heard of ChaCha? It is a mobile answering service. Want to make reservations at a restaurant but you don't have their number? Need to find movie times? Have a curiously nagging yet random question you want answered right away? Just call 800-2ChaCha or text your question to 242242 and receive a text response (from a live person) in just a few minutes! (image via HackCollege) The best part is, ChaCha is free (aside from texting fees from your mobile carrier) - at the time, the company relies on ads for their income. When I heard that ChaCha is hiring guides, aka the human counterparts, for their service, I immediately perked up. Guides are paid $0.10 per completed answer. It's not a...

Book Review: Twilight

I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a Harry Potter fan. I love fantasy books as well as thrillers and mysteries. And I still hold a soft place in my heart for the young adult genre, which kept me company during those lonely nights as an awkward and socially inept teenager. So when Breaking Dawn, the fourth book in the Twilight Saga, was released last month to much acclaim and publicity, I knew that I had to check out the series. And so I picked up a copy of Twilight, the book that started it all. As a bona fide bookworm, I consider myself well-read. And although preferences can definitely come into play when reviewing a book, I like to think that...

Squarespace V5 Review

Being a blogger (albeit a relatively unknown one) in NYC with a wide web of friends and acquaintances has its perks. A few weeks ago, I was asked to be a beta tester for version 5 of Squarespace's web publishing platform. I remembered reading about Squarespace, but had never checked it out. It was exactly for this reason I was told that I was an ideal tester: I have been blogging since 2001, have published blogs using various blogging platforms (Xanga, Blogger, TypePad, MySpace, Movable Type, and WordPress), but have never used Squarespace. I happily agreed to be their guinea pig and paid a visit to their SoHo office after work one day. After the obligatory round of greetings and introductions, I sat down...
