2 Years

Two years ago today, J and I said "I do" in front of 236 of our closest friends and family. In those two years, we have never taken a vacation together (with the exception of our honeymoon). I stopped working full-time. J got laid off and remained unemployed for three, financially tumultuous months. We lost a family member. We gained a new one in our dog Comang. We conceived, and lost a baby. We conceived another baby after four months of trying, and I am now 16 weeks pregnant with who will hopefully become our first live child. Cultural Expectations of Family

As mentioned in my last post, my in-laws (J's parents) will be visiting for 1.5 months starting this weekend. J's parents live in Hong Kong, so we only get to see them a handful of times a year. However, each visit lasts at least a couple of weeks — the longest of which was 5 months, starting two months before our wedding in 2008. That's right. My in-laws stayed with us for 3 months directly after our wedding. I won't lie and tell you that it was a piece of cake. Our Kids Are So Screwed…

Five years ago, J and I attended a fantastic New Year's Eve party. The drinks were flowing, the props superb (Michael Jackson hats and gloves, anyone?), and the people rockin'. Needless to say, I partied a little too hard and had some trouble getting back to my then-apartment in Baltimore. Luckily, J wasn't quite as drunk and escorted me back to my place. But as soon as I walked through the front door, I collapsed. Literally. I couldn't get off the floor and made quite a spectacle of myself as I tried to take off my boots.
