Parenting WIN [Flying with Babies]

I hope everyone had a great Labor Day! We had a fun-packed weekend of parties, cakes, and Korean BBQ. :-) For those who traveled this past vacation — especially with babies, no less — here's a salute to you, and an inspiring story of consideration from the parents of 14-week-old twins. Yesterday, Redditor gigantomachy uploaded the following photo and captioned it, "Brilliant and thoughtful parents handed these out to everyone on my flight." Having previously voiced my opinion on traveling with babies, I can't help but applaud these parents for their ingenuity and consideration for their fellow passengers. This isn't to say that all parents who fly with their kids should go a similar route. Rather, those who choose to go the extra mile are sure to...

Our Family’s First Trip to the Beach

...was a big fat FAIL. This past Saturday, J and I loaded up the car, strapped both girls into their car seats with me sitting uncomfortably between them, and drove a little over an hour to Long Island for a day at the beach with family and friends. I was admittedly uncomfortable with the idea of bringing Aerin to the beach because she tries to put everything into her mouth these days — even my nose! — but J assured me that he would take care of her while I watched Claire. Then & Now: The Real-Life Values of Monopoly Properties

Does everyone who plays the classic boardgame Monopoly know that its properties are based on actual streets in or near Atlantic City, NJ? And since the game was conceived in the early 20th century, the property values must have changed drastically, no? This was the rationale behind Movoto Real Estate, who took it upon themselves to revisit the properties that make up Monopoly and re-create the board with the current real estate prices: (Note: Movoto has removed two zeroes from the current values on the board. Oriental Avenue's $2,800, for example, means homes are selling for $280,000. A "???" means there are no homes for sale on that street.) It's interesting to see that Park Place no longer exists — in its place now...

Giveaway: Plaid Doctrine Eco Messenger Bag!

Today I am very excited to be introducing Plaid Doctrine, a travel accessories company that crafts its products from recycled bottles! Plaid Doctrine was created by Suzanne Park, who logged 300,000+ miles traveling for work and found herself frustrated with the travel gear available today. She says, "I searched high and low for my last laptop bag. It was on the expensive side, but it fell apart after just 6 months." According to Suzanne, "These are the kinds of travel accessories I would’ve killed for in my days of non-stop travel. They're good-looking, but not too trendy. They're green. And they're built to last. It's a win/win/win!" What makes Plaid Doctrine even more appealing is that nearly all of its materials are sourced...
